To ensure continued breeding success, the DNREC Piping Plover Program depends on volunteers to help inform the public about the breeding progress of the plovers and the importance of staying out of closed areas.

The Piping Plover Program needs volunteers from May through early August each year. They should be able to walk to monitoring stations on the beach, which can be as far as a half mile from parking areas. They will be trained to interact with the public and answer Piping Plover questions.
All volunteers must be fully vaccinated to participate.
Participants may be under the age of 18 but must signed permission from a parent or guardian.
Note: COVID-19 restrictions may reduce the ability to engage new volunteers. New applicants are always welcome, though, and will be brought into the program when possible.
