New Castle Resilient Community Events



The public participation portion of the City of New Castle Resilient Community Partnership included a series of public meetings at which residents and stakeholders were able to brainstorm and contribute their input to the partnership.

March 14, 2018 Resilient Community Partnership Public Workshop

City of New Castle residents were invited to a workshop on March 14, 2018, to learn about the Partnership’s final results and recommendations for improving the capacity of the City to plan for and recover from hazardous events – and what they can do as a resident. The workshop included informational exhibits and presentations.

Residents and city stakeholders were invited to:

  • Hear the results of the Resilient Community Partnership report
  • Learn about resiliency and emergency preparedness tips from subject matter experts
  • Promote a safer, more prepared community that can bounce back from flooding and other hazardous events

September 7, 2017 Resilient Community Partnership Public Workshop

City residents gathered on September 7, 2017 to learn how the Resilient Community Partnership is improving the capacity to plan for and recover from coastal and climate hazards in the City of New Castle. Attendees were invited to share their observations and concerns about current and future coastal hazards, hear an informative presentation about the project, and speak with subject matter experts.

Attendees were asked to help prioritize concerns and planning priorities by ranking which sectors of the city, its infrastructure, and service should receive priority in the resiliency planning process. Stormwater management systems, emergency services, and shoreline protection systems ranked highest in the exercise.
