GEAC Renewable Energy and Clean Technologies Workgroup

The Energy Efficiency and Electrification workgroup of the Governor’s Energy Advisory Council (GEAC) will explore current energy efficiency programs, transportation electrification, electric vehicles, building electrification, reliability and other topics raised by members.  Meetings of the council and its workgroups are posted on the DNREC Calendar of Events and on the Delaware Public Meeting Calendar.


Energy Advisory Council Membership

The membership of the Governor’s Energy Advisory Council is set in the amended Delaware Energy Act. There are 25 members, representing different branches of the state government, elected officials, the commercial sector, and the public at large. Ed Kee, Chair Sen. Stephanie Hansen Rep.


Governor’s Energy Advisory Council

The Governor’s Energy Advisory Council (GEAC) is charged with providing recommendations to DNREC’s State Energy Office on updates to the Delaware Energy Plan and with monitoring and proposing actions to enhance Delaware’s energy system, including actions to lessen the climate change impacts and providing counsel to the Governor on promoting an economic, reliable and competitive


Parks and Recreation Council

The Parks and Recreation Council advises the director of the DNREC Division of Parks and Recreation on matters related to the planning, acquisition, development, management, conservation and programming of lands and services under the jurisdiction of the division. The council is established in State Law at 29 Del. C. § 8009.


Board of Certification for Wastewater Operators

The Board of Certification For Operators of Wastewater Treatment Facilities was created to advise and assist the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control in the administration of the Delaware Licensed Wastewater Operator certification program.

Water Supply Coordinating Council

The Water Supply Coordinating Council was established by the Delaware General Assembly (26 Del. Code, § 1305 – § 1308) to work to continue water supply self-sufficiency in northern New Castle County and to develop and publish water supply plans for southern New Castle County, Kent County and Sussex County.



On-Site Systems Advisory Board

The On-Site Systems Advisory Board advises the Department on the groundwater discharges licensing program. The Board, created in the on-site systems regulations (7 DE Admin. Code, 7101), reviews and approves professional training requirements and courses and makes recommendations for licensing decisions by the Department.

The Clean Water Trust Oversight Committee oversees the Delaware Clean Water Trust and works to coordinate state programs that impact the quality of the State’s water resources. It serves in an advisory capacity to the Governor and the General Assembly.

Delaware Natural Areas Advisory Council

The Delaware Natural Areas Advisory Council advises the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control on the administration of nature preserves and the preservation of natural areas. They work to ensure that areas of unusual natural significance are preserved for the benefit of present and future generations of Delawareans.



Council on Recreational Fishing Funding

The Council on Recreational Fishing Funding was created in 2007 and serves in an advisory capacity to the Director of Fish and Wildlife.
