The Council on Boiler Safety serves in an advisory capacity to the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) on matters relating to the sale, operation, construction and use of boilers in Delaware.

The Council is established in state law (7 Del. Code § 7404B) to advise the Department on the management of the Boiler Safety Program. It is made up of five members, appointed by the governor, representing a variety of roles related to boilers and pressure vessels, including users, operators, manufacturers, insurers, and engineers.

Membership and Meetings

Meetings of the Council on Boiler Safety are posted on the DNREC Calendar of Events and on the Delaware Public Meeting Calendar.

State law specifies that the Council on Boiler Safety be composed of six members, appointed by the Governor to three-year terms. The Council should include, preferably, a representative of a company licensed to insure boilers and pressure vessels in Delaware, a manufacturer actively engaged in the manufacture of boilers, a user of boilers, a mechanical engineer, a licensed stationary engineer, and a representative from a major labor organization that represents workers performing boiler construction, installation, maintenance and repair.
