This section addresses Elements 6, 7 and 8, discussing the process of developing, reviewing and revising the DEWAP, outreach and coordination with partners, stakeholders, and the general public both during the 2025 Delaware Wildlife Action Plan (DEWAP) revision process and the approach to be taken over the next 10-year implementation period.
The 2025 comprehensive review and revision of the Delaware Wildlife Action Plan (DEWAP) began with an update to the list of Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) (Element 1), followed by a review and revision of habitat descriptions and their extent (Element 2). Next, we evaluated and updated the list of threats to SGCN and key wildlife habitats (Element 3), as well as the conservation actions needed to address those threats (Element 4). We also revised the list of current and planned monitoring efforts (Element 5). Throughout the process, and following development, we engaged with partners, stakeholders, and the public (Elements 7 and 8). The steps of this comprehensive review and revision process are described in more detail below (Element 6).
The written components of the 2025 DEWAP were revisions of the written components of the 2015 DEWAP, which were written and edited by expert contractors at Terwilliger Consulting, inc. and sub-contractors with Sarver Ecological, LLC. All the 2015 text was thoroughly reviewed, revised and updated, and condensed where feasible to better fit the web-enabling framework of the 2025 Plan.
