An individual NPDES permit is tailored to a specific discharge and location. These are typically outfalls from municipal sewage treatment facilities or industrial plants that discharge to surface waters of Delaware. The NPDES permit specifies limitations, monitoring requirements, and other terms and conditions that the permittee must meet in order to be allowed to discharge.
To apply for an individual NPDES permit, applicants complete at least two forms found on the EPA website. One is a General Information form (Form 1). This is augmented by one or more forms focused on different types of discharges.
Form 2A – For discharges of municipal wastewater from new and existing publicly-owned treatment works (POTWs).
Form 2B – For discharges of wastewater from concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) and aquatic animal production facilities.
Form 2C – For existing industrial facilities (including manufacturing, commercial, mining and silvicultural operations).
Form 2D – For new industrial facilities.
Form 2E – For facilities which do not discharge process wastewaters.
Form 2F – To discharge stormwater associated with new and existing industrial activity.
All individual NPDES permit forms are found on the EPA website.
