The DNREC Climate and Sustainability Section is charged with coordinating state actions that reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change and improving Delaware’s resiliency to climate change impacts. They use technical assistance, financial incentives, policy development, pilot projects and education initiatives to meet this charge.
The Division is committed to working with partners from the public and private sectors, and across regions, to assess and develop Delaware’s workforce and economic opportunities to meet the challenge of a changing climate.
Reducing emissions and increasing resiliency are key to reducing the impacts of climate change and protecting our future.
Everyone has a role to play in addressing climate change — families, businesses and state and local agencies alike. The state is leading by example by constructing energy efficient buildings and transitioning to electric vehicles, among many other actions.
At the same time, there are also many actions that businesses, families and individuals can take to reduce our vulnerability to climate change, while simultaneously saving money and reducing pollution.
Tailpipe emissions from the cars and trucks we drive are the leading source of pollution in Delaware, contributing to both climate change and air quality issues that harm our health. That’s why DNREC is partnering with state agencies and community organizations to make it easier for families and businesses to switch to cleaner, more sustainable transportation options.
Through a range of clean transportation initiatives, we’re working to make these options more accessible to all Delawareans.
