The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (Department) Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances (WHS) Remediation Section (RS) invites public comments on a proposal to clean-up the 613-615 N. Walnut Street Site (Site) located at 613 N. Walnut Street in Milford. The Site was historically used for a feed lot, knitting mill, and window manufacturing. Residents and tenants also lived onsite in homes that had underground storage tanks for heating oil.
The 613-615 N. Walnut Street Site will be subject to the following key remedial actions: the submittal of a Remedial Action Work Plan which specifies the methods to be used to remediate the site including injections to remediate the groundwater contamination; development and compliance with the Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP); the development and compliance with a Long Term Stewardship (LTS) Plan to evaluate the effectiveness and integrity of the remedy; the recording of an Environmental Covenant restricting groundwater withdrawal, restricting the installation of basements and subsurface structures greater than 3-feet below grade surface, and requiring compliance with the CMMP and LTS Plan; and the submittal of a Remedial Action Completion Report.
Details of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Proposed Plan) are available online at den.dnrec.delaware.gov.
