Notice has been given that:
Clarios, LLC – Middletown Distribution Center, requests a permit amendment to operate two (2) separate battery formation areas that consist of thirty-two (32) water bath tables with hoods, eight (8) Chicago Plastic Systems scrubbers with fans, eight (8) general fans, and four (4) roof fans in the Starting, Lighting and Ignition (SLI) Formation Area and eighty (80) water bath tables, two (2) Chicago Plastic Systems scrubbers with fans, and two (2) roof fans in the Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) Formation Area, at their 50 Patriot Drive, Middletown, New Castle County, facility. The SLI Formation Area will be permitted to emit 1.38 TPY of Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4) and 1635.85 TPY of Hydrogen Gas (H2) by Permit# APC-2017/0103–CONSTRUCTION/OPERATION (Amendment 02). The AGM Formation Area will be permitted to emit 0.13 TPY of Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4) and 115.03 TPY of Hydrogen Gas (H2) by Permit# APC-2017/0104–CONSTRUCTION/OPERATION (Amendment 02).

A public hearing on any of the above applications will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC receives a request for a hearing regarding that application within 15 days from the date of this notice, ending June 9, 2025. A request for a hearing shall be in writing. The request must also show a familiarity with the application and a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
