Permit Application

Notice has been given that:

The Delaware Solid Waste Authority, Cherry Island Landfill, requests a construction permit to expand the existing landfill gas collection and removal system located at their 1706 East 12th Street, Wilmington, New Castle County facility. The permit will allow the continued expansion of the existing landfill gas collection and removal system permitted to operate under Title V Permit: AQM-003/00111-Renewal (03), by providing continuous landfill gas collection from all portions of the landfill and transmitting the landfill gas to the gas plant or flares at the site under Permit: APC-2024/0067-CONSTRUCTION. Total combined permitted emissions from the gas plant and flares will remain unchanged at 23.9 TPY of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), 79.6 TPY of Carbon Monoxide (CO), 6.6 TPY Particulate Matter (PM), 2.1 TPY Non-Methane Organic Compounds (NMOCs), 58.5 TPY Sulfur Oxides (SOx), and 0.08 TPY Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs), and are included in Permit: AQM-003/00111-Renewal (03).

A public hearing on any of the above applications will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC receives a request for a hearing regarding that application within 15 days from the date of this notice, ending May 20, 2024.  A request for a hearing shall be in writing.  The request must also show a familiarity with the application and a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
