Notice has been given that:
Doherty Funeral Homes, Inc., requests a Natural Minor permit to construct one (1) Human Crematory at their Limestone facility at 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, New Castle County. The Human Crematory will be permitted to emit 0.21 TPY of PM, 1.85 TPY of NOx, 0.29 TPY of SOx, 0.0094 TPY of CO, and 0.0075 TPY of VOCs by Permit: APC-2024/0015-CONSTRUCTION. Using information obtained through testing conducted and published by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department has estimated and modeled the emission rates of various trace heavy metals and hazardous air pollutants emitted from the operation of the Matthews Environmental Solution Power Pak II Human Crematory and determined that the pollutants do not pose a threat to the health and safety of the general public.
The application for this permit may be reviewed upon request. The application is posted at de.gov/dnrecnotices. A public hearing on any of the above applications will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC receives a request for a hearing regarding that application within 15 days from the date of this notice, ending January 8, 2024. A request for a hearing shall be in writing. The request must also show a familiarity with the application and a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
