Notice has been given that:

Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home requests a permit to construct one (1) propane-fired Matthews Environmental Solutions Power Pak II Plus (IE43-PPII Plus) Crematory Incinerator at their 19 South Main Street facility in Selbyville, Sussex County. The crematory incinerator will be permitted to emit up to 0.22 tons per year (TPY) of PM, 0.01 TPY of CO, 2.69 TPY of NOx, 0.01 TPY of VOCs, and 0.08 TPY of SOx by Permit: APC-2025/0016-Construction. Using information obtained through testing conducted and published by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department has estimated and modeled the emission rates of various trace heavy metals and hazardous air pollutants emitted from the operation of the Matthews Environmental Solutions incinerator and has determined that the pollutants do not pose a threat to the health and safety of the general public.

The application for this permit may be reviewed upon request. The application is posted at de.gov/dnrecnotices. To submit comments, for additional information or for information regarding how you can inspect the application, please contact Jennifer Childears at (302) 739‑9402 or jennifer.childears@delaware.gov.

A public hearing on any of the above applications will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC receives a request for a hearing regarding that application within 15 days from the date of this notice, ending February 10, 2025. A request for a hearing shall be in writing. The request must also show a familiarity with the application and a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
