The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Remediation Section (RS) has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 19470 Coastal Highway Site [DE-1879] (Site) located in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. A portion of the Site was utilized for agricultural purposes prior to 1977 after which, there were retail gasoline and other commercial businesses operating on the Site. The gas station is no longer in operation, and the underground storage tanks were removed. Development and compliance with a DNREC-approved Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP), development and compliance with a Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Plan, a groundwater use restriction and LTS groundwater monitoring as described in an environmental covenant recorded with the property deed are required at the Site to prevent exposure to site groundwater for future Site users.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Proposed Plan) for the 19470 Coastal Highway Site on May 20, 2026. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan.
