The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Remediation Section (RS) invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up the Greenville Station Site (DE-1865) (Site) located at 3920 Kennett Pike in Wilmington, Delaware. The approximately 0.4-acre Site consists of a one-story commercial building divided into five tenant spaces and surrounded by an asphalt parking lot with small areas of maintained lawn. The Site operated as a gas station from at least 1964 until 1981. Since 1981, the Site has operated as a multitenant commercial space including such businesses as an art gallery, a dry cleaner drop-off, a travel agency, a service agency for the elderly, and an insurance agency. Prior to its development as a gas station, the Site consisted of grass and woodlands.
The Site will be subject to the following key remedial actions: development and compliance with the Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP) and a Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Plan, and the recording of an Environmental Covenant limiting the property to non-residential use, limiting groundwater withdrawal, limiting slab disturbance, and vapor evaluation for existing or new buildings.
Details of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Proposed Plan) are available online at den.dnrec.delaware.gov.
