The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Remediation Section (RS) invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up 19470 Coastal Highway Site (DE-1879) (Site) located at 19470 Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Currently, the approximately 1.96-acre Site is a strip mall consisting of multiple commercial businesses. At least a portion of the property was utilized for agriculture purposes prior to 1977, after which, there were retail gasoline and other commercial businesses operating on the Site.
The Site will be subject to the following key remedial actions: development of and compliance with a Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP) and also a Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Plan to monitor groundwater quality, along with the recording of an environmental covenant restricting groundwater withdrawal and also requiring compliance with the CMMP and LTS Plan.
Details of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Proposed Plan) are available online at den.dnrec.delaware.gov
