The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Remediation Section (RS) has adopted an amended plan regarding the clean-up of the 16519 South DuPont Highway Site (DE-1768) (Site) located in Harrington. The Site was a former automotive repair facility that has been split into two operable units, Operable Unit-1 (OU-1) and Operable Unit-2 (OU-2), to facilitate cleanup and redevelopment.
OU-1 and OU-2 require an amended Environmental Covenant limiting the withdrawal of groundwater on the site. OU-1 requires the installation of a vapor mitigation system, development of, and compliance with, an amended Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP), development of, and compliance with, an amended Long-Term Stewardship Plan, and the submittal of a Remedial Action Completion Report.
DNREC issued a public notice of the Amended Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Amended Proposed Plan) for the 16519 South DuPont Highway (DE-1768) Site on December 24, 2025. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Amended Proposed Plan.
Details of the Amended Final Plan are available online at den.dnrec.delaware.gov.
