Pursuant to 7 Del. C., Section 6004, notice is hereby given by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s (DNREC) Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances (DWHS), Compliance and Permitting Section (CAPS) that the Solid Waste Permit for the Claymont Community Center Composting Site at 3117 Green St, Claymont, DE, is being issued by the CAPS.
The Claymont Community Center Composting Site will be located next to the garden at the Claymont Community Center Food Bank, and will be used to dispose of food waste, gardening residuals, and yard waste.
The application and draft permit for this permit renewal and expansion may be reviewed upon request. The application and draft permit are posted online at de.gov/dnrecnotices.

A public hearing (on the above) will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC receives a request within 15 days from this notice, ending at 4:30 p.m. on November 26, 2025. A request for a hearing shall be in writing and shall state the nature of the issues to be raised at the hearing. It must also show a familiarity with the permit application and a reasoned statement of the activity’s probable impact.
