The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances (WHS) Remediation Section has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 0 Old Airport Road Site (DE- 1801) (Site) located in New Castle. The Site was utilized as an auto salvage yard since the early 1980s. The Site was historically B & B Auto Salvage in the 1980s. The Site was Midway Towing Inc. from the early 2000s until 2022. Based on historic aerials prior to the 1980s, the Site appeared to consist of undeveloped land.

The 0 Old Airport Road Site will be subject to the following key remedial actions: the submittal of a Remedial Action Work Plan which specifies the methods to be used to remediate the site including the removal and disposal of impacted soils, the recording of an Environmental Covenant restricting groundwater withdrawal, the submittal of a Long-term Stewardship Plan, and the submittal of a Remedial Action Completion Report.

DNREC-RS issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Proposed Plan) for the 0 Old Airport Road Site on July16, 2025. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan.
