The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances (WHS) Remediation Section (RS) has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of Operable Units (OUs) 52, 53, 54, and 55 of the Hamilton Park/Pyles Lane Site, (Site) (DE-1284) a residential neighborhood located in New Castle. The Site soils have been impacted likely due to fill materials placed prior to the construction of the home (OU-52) and church (OU-54). The plan for OU-52, OU-53, OU-54, and OU-55 requires the removal of soils within the top two feet below ground surface in select areas to prevent property users from exposure to the soils.
DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Proposed Plan) for OU-52, OU-53, OU-54, and OU-55 of the Hamilton Park/Pyles Lane Site on February 16, 2025. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan.
Details of the Final Plan of Remedial Action are available online at den.dnrec.delaware.gov
