DNREC Notice No. WHS20250066
Non-Discrimination Policy

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Remediation Section (RS) invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up Operable Units (OUs)-52, 53, 54, and 55 of the Hamilton Park/Pyles Lane Site (DE-1284) (Site), four properties within a residential neighborhood located in New Castle. Fill material placed before the houses in the neighborhood were constructed, as well as remnants of a former foundry operation previously located in the rear of the neighborhood, are the likely sources of elevated metals detected within the top 0 to 2 feet below ground surface (bgs) throughout the Site.

The OU-52, OU-53, OU-54, OU-55 properties will be subject to the following key remedial action activities: the submittal of a Remedial Action Work Plan which specifies the methods to be used to remediate the Site including the removal and disposal of primarily arsenic-impacted surface soils to meet DNREC Hazardous Substance Cleanup Act (HSCA) standards, and the submittal of a Remedial Action Completion Report.

Details of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action are available online at den.dnrec.delaware.gov.
