The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the Borden Chemical Co Smyrna Site (DE-0022) located in Clayton. The Site historically operated as an agricultural chemical supplier. It will be subject to the following key remedial actions: submittal of a Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Work Plan which specifies the groundwater monitoring requirements and schedule to be followed in order to monitor the groundwater contaminants; recording of an Environmental Covenant restricting the use of the property to non-residential, restricting the groundwater withdrawal and compliance with the LTS Plan.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the Borden Chemical Co Smyrna Site on November 6, 2024. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan.
