The Department has adopted a plan to address contamination identified on Operable Unit 2 (OU-2) of the Former New Arc Welding Site (DE-1345) (“Site”) located in Wilmington. The Site has had various industrial uses, including oil refining, car manufacturing, paper and twine manufacturing, also as a motorcycle shop, and more recently, metal welding, fabricating, and coating. Currently, OU-2 of the Site is occupied by a company conducting commercial painting and sandblasting operations.
OU-2 of the Site will be subject to the following remedial action: recording of an environmental covenant that restricts groundwater withdrawal, restricts property use to non- residential, and restricts any recreational use of the property.
DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the Operable Unit 2 of the Site on September 22, 2024. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
