The Department has adopted plans regarding the clean-up of OU-1, OU-2, and OU-3 of the Brandywine Country Club Site located in Wilmington. The Site is a former 18-hole golf course that has been divided into operable units to facilitate cleanup and redevelopment.
OU-1 and OU-2 of the Site will be subject to: excavation of soils impacted with arsenic that will either be disposed of offsite with residually-impacted soils blended to further reduce concentrations, as necessary, or the excavated soils will be capped within OU-1 and OU-2, restrictions on land-disturbing activities in capped areas, the use of groundwater at the Site, and required compliance with long-term monitoring of capped areas and a contaminated materials management plan to ensure elimination of exposure to existing Site soils and groundwater for future Site users.
OU-3 of the Site will be subject to: excavation of soils impacted with arsenic that will be disposed of offsite with residually-impacted soils blended to further reduce concentrations, as necessary, restriction on use of groundwater at the Site, and required compliance with a contaminated materials management plan to ensure elimination of exposure to groundwater for future site users.
DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for OU-1 and OU-2, and the Proposed Plan for OU-3 of the Site on March 6, 2024. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plans. Details of the Final Plans are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
