The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 1320 East 8th Street Site located in Wilmington. The Site was historically used as part of railcar and shipbuilding manufacturing operations. Later, the property was used for the packaging and distribution of domestic goods.

The following remedial actions are required at the Site: placement of a cap to prevent exposure to site soils, compliance with a plan to properly manage contaminated soils and groundwater and with a plan for long-term monitoring of the cap, and restrictions on site use to non-residential, interference with the cap, and the use of groundwater at the Site.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the 1320 East 8th Street Site on Sunday, January 21, 2024. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
