The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Water, hereby gives notice that a permit application for the construction of wastewater conveyance has been received concerning the following:
New Castle County proposes to install approximately eighteen thousand linear feet (18,000 LF) of parallel ten (10) and sixteen (16) inch diameter sanitary sewer force main, gate valves, air release and vacuum manholes and related appurtenances starting at the Carter Farm site (Tax Parcel #s 11-061-00-001, 005 and 008) located approximately one thousand (1,000) feet west of Choptank Road and one half (1/2) mile north of the Churchtown Road intersection, proceeding approximately one thousand (1,000) feet east to Choptank Road, then proceeding approximately two thousand five hundred (2,500) feet south on Choptank Road, then proceeding east approximately two (2) miles on Churchtown Road to the Summit Bridge Road intersection, then proceeding east approximately three thousand feet (3,000) on Boyd’s Corner Road to interconnect with an existing gravity sanitary sewer manhole at the Whispering Woods Road intersection in Mount Pleasant, Delaware. The purpose of the proposed force main installation is to provide central sanitary sewer service to the west wing portion of the New Castle County southern sewer service area. A sanitary sewer pump station at the Carter Farm site will be installed during a subsequent construction phase.

A public hearing concerning the above application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious request for a hearing is received on or before March 29, 2023. A request for a public hearing shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
