The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up the Amtrak Former Fueling Facility, Operable Unit 3 (OU-3) located at 4001 Vandever Avenue in Wilmington. The site includes approximately 79 acres of the Amtrak Wilmington Maintenance Shops. Petroleum compounds, PCBs, arsenic and lead were detected in site soils, sediments and/or groundwater at concentrations exceeding applicable risk thresholds. Investigation results for the remainder of the Wilmington Maintenance Shops are currently under review by DNREC and EPA. As such, remedial activities required for the Amtrak Former Fueling Facility (DE-0266) site may be scheduled in concert with remedial activities required by DNREC and EPA for the Maintenance Facility (DE-0170) site.
Details of the Proposed Plan are available online at: www.nav.dnrec.delaware.gov/DEN3/
The comment period ends on August 10, 2020. For additional information, please contact John Cargill, Project Manager, at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
