The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up Operable Unit 1 (OU-1) and Operable Unit 4 (OU-4) of the Eden Hill Farm Site (DE-1714) located in Dover. OU-1 denotes an 8.31-acre portion of the approximately 99-acre Site and OU-4 describes the groundwater flowing beneath the entire Site. Between 1937 and 2019, the entire Site was used as farmland.
OU-1 and OU-4 of the Eden Hill Site will be subject to the following key remedial actions: blending of surface soils in a select area within OU-1 to reduce elevated concentrations of arsenic likely due to pesticide use during farm operations, and the recording of an Environmental Covenant with the property deed that restricts groundwater withdrawal on the entire Site and requires compliance with the DNREC-approved Contaminated Materials Management Plan during intrusive activities.
Details of the Proposed Plan are available online at: www.nav.dnrec.delaware.gov/DEN3/
The comment period ends on October 11, 2021. For additional information, please contact Lindsay Hall, Project Manager, at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
