The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 12 & 14 Gordon Street Site located in Wilmington. Historically, the Site contained residential automobile garage structures and was used as a warehouse and for automobile parking. A portion of the property was previously used to operate a commercial painting business from the 1960s to 1998. Information obtained from the City of Wilmington Department of Licenses & Inspections indicated that an Emergency Hazardous Materials Cleanup (EHMC) was conducted at the Site on July 29, 1999.
The Site requires removal of sludge from the existing grated concrete sump/drain structure, site use restriction to non-residential types of uses, groundwater use restriction, and compliance with Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP).
DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the 12 & 14 Gordon Street Site on December 26, 2021. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
