A Federal Consistency Certification has been submitted to the Delaware Coastal Management Program for the following: Murderkill River Channel Dredging Modification (2021.0080)
DNREC Division of Watershed Stewardship is requesting modifications to an existing U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit (CENAP-OP-R-2013-1033023) to change the method of dredging for a portion of the Murderkill River and change the volume of material authorized to be disposed in overboard disposal sites. Currently permitted to hydraulically dredge the entrance channel, this request would enable mechanical dredging of 1,800 cubic yards of material from a shoal north of South Bowers jetty for placement as nourishment material at an authorized area on South Bowers Beach. The remainder of the maintenance dredging would be done hydraulically with a total of 43,200 cubic yards to be disposed in an overboard disposal area.
