Final Plan of Remedial Action for Operable Unit 1 of the Former New Arc Welding Site (DE-1345)

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Remediation Section (RS) has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of Operable Unit 1 (OU-1) of the Former New Arc Welding Site (DE-1345) (Site), located in Wilmington. The Site has had various industrial uses, including oil refining, car manufacturing, paper and twine manufacturing, also as a motorcycle shop, and more recently, metal welding, fabricating, and coating. Currently, OU-1 of the Site is utilized for trailer storage.

The following remedial actions are required for the Site: restrictions on site use to non-residential and on the withdrawal of groundwater at the Site.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action (Proposed Plan) for OU-1 of the Site on December 17, 2025. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan.
