New Castle County’s Department of Special Services (NCC DSS) has applied to the Groundwater Discharges Section for renewal of their Spray Irrigation Permit: State Permit DEN Number 359199-03. The permit authorizes NCC DSS to spray irrigate treated effluent from the New Castle County Water Farm 1 Wastewater Treatment Facility (NCC WF1 WWTF) onto spray fields located between Delaware Route 9 and County Road 299, South of County Road 424, New Castle County, Delaware, Tax Map Parcel Number 1400300002. NCC DSS is permitted separately, in accordance with the NPDES Permit No. DE 0050547, to operate and maintain the facility known as NCC WF1 WWTF to treat domestic wastewater.

A public hearing on the above application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a public hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious objection to the application is received within 15 days from this notice. A public hearing request shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the action’s probable impact.
