The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up Operable Unit 1 (OU-1) of the SIP Property Site (DE-1408) [“Site”] located at 1101 East 8th Street in Wilmington. Historically, the Site was used as part of shipbuilding operations. OU-1 of the Site is currently largely wooded but the southeastern corner was cleared and has a building and parking lot on it.
OU-1 of the Site will be subject to the following key remedial actions: placement of a cap consisting of impervious material, such as asphalt or concrete, or at least one feet of DNREC-approved fill material, the recording of an Environmental Covenant with the property deed that restricts property use to non-residential and required compliance with the site-specific Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP) and Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Plan.
Details of the Proposed Plan of Remedial Action are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/Detail/FacilityDetail.aspx?id=10152500
The comment period ends at close of business, (4:30 PM), on Monday, January 3, 2022. For additional information, please contact Lindsay Hall, Project Manager, at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
