The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of the 4845 & 4867 DuPont Parkway Site located in Townsend. The Site has been used for various purposes since approximately the 1940s, including as a gasoline service station, an automobile repair/service facility, a residence, a restaurant, and a furniture store, but is currently vacant.
Required remedial actions for the Site include recording of an environmental covenant on the property deed restricting groundwater withdrawal at the Site, site use to non-residential, and development within the wetland area, and compliance with a DNREC-approved Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP).
DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for the 4845 & 4867 DuPont Parkway Site on February 1, 2023. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
