The Climate Change Officers are representatives from key state agencies involved in the implementation of Delaware’s Climate Action Plan. They are tasked with supporting the achievement of emission reduction targets for 2030 and 2050 and helping develop and update the Plan.
The Climate Change Officers are established in the Delaware Code (7 Del. Code § 10004(b)) as part of the Climate Change Solutions Act of 2023. They are appointed from each of nine key state agencies defined in the act.
The climate change officers meet at least twice each year. Meetings are posted on the DNREC Calendar of Events and on the Delaware Public Meeting Calendar.

Each agency designates one Climate Change Officer and may designate alternates to ensure adequate representation and participation. The primary designee and alternates work together to ensure representation at meetings and events, and help ensure that perspectives of large, diverse agencies are represented.
Climate Change Officers are meant to have a working knowledge of climate impacts and emission reduction strategies, but, more importantly, they should have the ability to effectuate change and communicate throughout the entirety of their agency.
The Climate Change Officers are one of two committees established by the Climate Change Solutions Act. The other committee is the Technical Climate Advisors.
