The Alternative Bi-Fuel Vehicle Rebate Program provides incentives to encourage the use and deployment of bi-fuel vehicle technologies in Delaware.
Bi-fuel vehicles for this program are defined as those vehicles that have two separate fueling systems that enable them to run on either propane or natural gas and a conventional fuel.
This program is part of Delaware’s commitment to innovation in the transportation sector, reducing greenhouse gases, and improving Delaware’s air quality.
For more information, see the full description and guidance for the Alternative Bi-Fuel Vehicle Rebate Program.
Rebates are available for the purchase or lease of a new bi-fuel vehicle and for certain bi-fuel vehicle retrofits.
Rebates are available for new passenger vehicles (classes 1 through 6) purchased or leased between January 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018.
Rebates are available for bi-fuel vehicle retrofits completed between January 1, 2016 and June 30, 2018, by a certified retrofitter.
Applicants must be Delaware residents, businesses or organizations in Delaware, or active-duty military personnel stationed in Delaware. For full eligibility information, please refer to the full description and guidance for the program.
The program will continue until all funding has been exhausted or June 30, 2018, whichever comes first.
You can apply for a rebate either directly or through a participating auto dealer. You do not need to purchase a vehicle from a participating dealership to qualify for a rebate. Participating dealers, however, are able to roll your rebate into your monthly lease or financing. All applications must be signed by both the purchaser and a dealer representative. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that all documentation is complete.
To apply for a Clean Vehicle Rebate please submit all required documents (except the W-9 form, which must be submitted online) to the Delaware Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy. Documents can be sent via email (DNREC.Transportation@delaware.gov) or by US mail (100 W. Water Street, Dover, DE 19904).
To submit your W-9, use the Delaware eSupplier Portal. (See the W-9 Guide for instructions)
A complete Clean Vehicle Rebate application
Proof of residency or operation in Delaware (driver’s license, military proof of service letter, or business license)
A copy of the sales slip or lease agreement
An online W-9 form using the Delaware eSupplier Portal (See the W-9 Guide for instructions)
Find a participating dealer and let them know that you are interested in the Delaware Clean Vehicle Rebate Program. Purchase or lease (for at least 36 months) an eligible vehicle. Participating dealers will roll vehicle rebates into the purchase or lease (documentation of this is required). Complete the Clean Vehicle Rebate application and sign the section “If Dealer is Receiving Rebate” on page 2.
