Wastewater Facilities Construction Permit Application: Lewes BPW

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Water, hereby gives notice that a permit application has been received from:

Lewes Board of Public Works, Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware, to rehabilitate the headworks of the Howard Seymour Wastewater Reclamation Facility, located at 116 American Legion Road in Lewes, Delaware. The proposed Works include removal of the existing Grit Removal System and installation of a new Grit Removal System, Grit Classifier, Control Panels, conductive wiring, and signal wiring; rebuilding the internal components of the existing Brackett Green CF100 5mm Bandscreen; rebuilding the internal components of the existing Brackett Green CF100 2mm Bandscreen; removing and replacing the existing Bandscreen control panels with new control panels; removing and replacing the existing 2mm Bandscreen screening pump with a non-clog pump and upsizing the discharge line to the upper floor of the headworks; removing and replacing the existing compactor with a JWCE Monster Wash Press including replacement of control panels, conductive wiring, and signal wiring; upgrading Headworks HVAC to achieve NFPA compliance including sealing flow channels, replacement of louver’s, fans, and heaters and installation of air quality monitoring equipment.

A public hearing concerning the above application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious request for a hearing is received on or before March 26, 2023. A request for a public hearing shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
