Puglisi Egg Farms of Delaware, LLC. has a Permit, under Part V of the Department’s Guidance and Regulations Governing the Land Treatment of Wastes, to operate a land treatment system for the agricultural utilization of liquid by-products from an egg washing/sanitation system at the Puglisi Egg Farm near Middletown, DE. The operation involves the surface application of limited quantities of egg wash down wastewater onto a grass crop. The wastewater material is required to undergo periodic analysis for list of specific parameters including nutrient content prior to application. Hydrologic load and nutrient content limit the application volume. The wastewater contains no sanitary wastewater.

The liquid waste will be applied by fixed spray irrigation equipment at agronomic rates onto a 12.4 acre approved portion of 287 acres of farmland owned by Puglisi Egg Farms of Delaware, LLC. on Middle Neck Road near Middletown, Delaware (Tax Parcel #13-021.00-010).

Part V of the Department’s Guidance and Regulations Governing the Land Treatment of Wastes allows for such activity pending public notice.

A public hearing on the above application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a public hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious objection to the application is received by 4:30 p.m. August 30, 2022. A public hearing request shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the action’s probable impact.
