Notice is hereby given by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s, Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances’ (WHS), Compliance and Permitting Section (CAPS) that Conectiv Properties and Investments, Inc. (CPI) is being issued a Solid Waste Permit for the closure of the inactive Site II Industrial Waste Landfill (IWL) located on Hay Road in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Site II IWL was originally owned by Delmarva Power & Light Company (DP&L). The Site II IWL actively landfilled wastes from 1982 until the late 1980’s. In 2000, DP&L transferred ownership of the Site II IWL to Conectiv Delmarva Generation (currently operating as an entity of CPI). Closure of the inactive Site II IWL is being conducted in accordance with the most recent version of Delaware’s Regulations Governing Solid Waste (DRGSW). A public hearing on the above permit modification will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC receives a meritorious request within fifteen (15) days from the date of this notice (April 27, 2020). A request for a hearing shall be in writing and shall state the nature of the issues to be raised at the hearing. It must also show a familiarity with the application and a reasoned statement of the activity’s probable impact.
