Federal regulations require DNREC to provide opportunity for public comment on any new WAP grants.
A public hearing will be held on the below application on Thursday, January 9, 2020, beginning at 1:00 PM in the Auditorium at the DNREC offices at 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901. For additional information on this public hearing, visit de.gov/dnrechearings.
Notice is hereby given that The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Division of Climate, Coastal, & Energy, is applying for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) 2020 program funds. The mission of WAP is to reduce energy loss and consumption in the homes of low income Delawareans, creating healthier and more comfortable homes while reducing energy bills. This new application continues the work outlined in DNREC’s previous Weatherization Program State Plans. Delaware has two Subgrantees that implement the program at the county level, Catholic Charities in Kent and Sussex Counties and the Energy Coordinating Agency in New Castle County. At the time of this notice, Congress was operating under a Continuing Resolution and the WAP allocations had not been determined. Due to this delay in allocations, Delaware WAP has been instructed to develop the Delaware State Plan based on the prior year’s funding levels of $717,370, of which $154,493 is allocated for training and technical assistance.
For additional information on the above matters, and to review this application, visit de.gov/dnrechearings or Cheryl L. Gmuer, Division of Climate, Coastal, & Energy Weatherization Assistance Program – Program Manager, 100 W. Water Street, Suite 5A, Dover, Delaware, 19904, by phone at (302) 735-3361, or by email at Cheryl.Gmuer@delaware.gov.
