Amended Plan

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) invites public comment on an amended proposal to address the 601 Delaware Avenue Site (DE-1779) located at 601 Delaware Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware. The site is approximately 0.19 acres in size, located in a densely-urbanized setting, and until 2021, was used as office space for Christiana Health Care System.

The 601 Delaware Avenue Site will be subject to the following remedial actions: submittal and approval of a Remedial Action Work Plan (RAWP), placement of a two-foot soil, stone, or impervious cap/cover or building structures over impacted areas to restrict access to underlying soil, development of and compliance with a Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP), recording of an Environmental Covenant (EC) that restricts groundwater withdrawal, requires DNREC approval of any soil disturbances and relocation and ensures compliance with the CMMP, preparation and implementation of a site-specific Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) Plan, and the submittal of a Remedial Action Completion Report (RACR).

Details of the Amended Proposed Plan are available at the office of DNREC-RS online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/

The comment period ends on November 6, 2023. For additional information, please contact Shahroze Ali (Project Manager) at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
