Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) affects the brain and nervous system in members of the family Cervidae, which includes deer, sika, elk or moose.
State wildlife officials are responding under Delaware’s Chronic Wasting Disease Response Plan and taking steps to better understand how far the disease may have spread and help slow it down.
The community meeting, which is part of that plan. It will allow members of the public to ask questions, understand the state’s next steps and learn how the DNREC surveillance for the disease will affect upcoming hunting seasons.
This will be a hybrid meeting with an in-person option at Trap Pond State Park and a virtual option via TEAMS. State park entrance fees will be waived for those attending the meeting.
