DNREC Notice No. WHS20240185
Non-Discrimination Policy

The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up Operable Unit 2 of (OU-2) the Whittington Woods (DE-1509) located off of Minnies Lane in Bear, New Castle County. The OU-2 portion of the Site was part of a former sand and gravel borrow pit that allowed open burning and pallet restoration from the early-1950s to the late-1960s.

The Site will be subject to the following key remedial action amendment: the recording of an Environmental Covenant changing the Use Limitation from solely open space or recreational to non-residential types permitted within commercial, manufacturing, or industrial districts respectively.

Details of the Proposed Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov

The comment period ends on June 3, 2024. For additional information, please contact Morgan McGee-Solomon, Project Manager at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
