The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Water, hereby gives notice that a permit application has been received from:
Artesian Wastewater Services (AWWS), Inc., of Newark, Delaware, to install and connect AWWS sewage forcemains to Sussex County Sewer system at five (5) separate locations as follows:
The Ridings at Rehoboth
Approximately 90 LF of forcemain from the existing Ridings Wastewater Treatment Plant, across Beaver Dam Road to the Sussex County interconnect force main. The project site is approximately 200 LF south of the intersection of Steeple Chase Lane and Beaver Dam Road, Sussex County.
The Retreat
Approximately 100 LF of forcemain from the existing Retreat Wastewater Treatment Plant, across Cedar Grove Road to a Sussex County interconnect force main within Cedar Grove Road. The project site is located approximately 400 LF west of the intersection of Almwick Lane and Cedar Grove Road, Sussex County.
Bayfront
Approximately 700 LF of forcemain from the Bayfront Wastewater Treatment Plant to a Sussex County gravity system located in Cedar Lane within Angola Neck Park. The project site is located approximately 800 LF west of the intersection of Cypress Road and Camp Arrowhead Road, Sussex County.
Harts Landing
Approximately 1,400 LF of forcemain from the Harts Landing Pump Station to a Sussex County gravity system located in Cedar Lane within the Saddle Ridge development The project site is located at the intersection of Tanglewood Drive and John J. Williams Highway, Sussex County.
Plantations
Approximately 2,300 LF of forcemain from the Plantation’s Wastewater Treatment Plant /Chlorine Contact Tank to a Sussex County interconnect force main near the intersection of Robinsonville and Plantation Roads. The project site is located at the intersection of Ritter Lake Drive and Plantation Road, Sussex County.

A public hearing concerning the above application will NOT be held unless the Secretary of DNREC determines that a hearing is in the public interest or if a written meritorious request for a hearing is received on or before February 15, 2023. A request for a public hearing shall be deemed meritorious if it exhibits a familiarity with the application and provides a reasoned statement of the permit’s probable impact.
