Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up the SSC Laurel Agronomy Site (DE-1790) located at 102 Dashields Street in Laurel. The Site has been used since approximately the 1930s first as a fertilizer and feed warehousing and package company, and most recently, as a retail agronomy business where dry and liquid fertilizers were stored and sold.

The Site will be subject to the following key remedial actions: excavation of two soil “hot spot” areas due to elevated pesticides, removal of an AST and a possible UST, development of and compliance with a Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP), and the recording of an Environmental Covenant that restricts groundwater withdrawal from beneath the Site, and requires compliance with the CMMP.

Details of the Proposed Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/

The comment period ends on June 12, 2023. For additional information, please contact Lindsay Hall, Project Manager, at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
