The Department invites public comment on a proposal to clean-up the 900 S. Heald Street Site (DE-1760) located at 900 S Heald Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Historically, the Site was utilized for various operations including a construction yard, automobile towing facility, a tire outlet, and a transportation company/bus yard since the late 1940s. Five underground storage tanks (USTs) were reported as being removed from the Site in 2007 and one UST was removed in 1980.
The Site will be subject to the following remedial actions: development and compliance with a Contaminated Materials Management Plan (CMMP); and recording of an Environmental Covenant restricting groundwater withdrawal.
Details of the Proposed Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov/
The comment period ends on May 9, 2022. For additional information, please contact Kevin Popowich, the DNREC Project Manager at (302) 395-2600 or via email at RS_Public_Comments@delaware.gov.
