Final Plan of Remedial Action for Operable Unit 7 (OU-7) Marina District Fort Dupont Redevelopment (DE-1618)

Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances

Published: July 16, 2023

The Department has adopted a plan regarding the clean-up of Operable Unit 7 (OU-7) Marina District of the Fort Dupont Redevelopment Site located in Delaware City. OU-7 is the seventh of several Operable Units (OUs) within the over 300-acre Fort Dupont Site that had historically been occupied and operated as a Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) and later as the Governor Bacon Health Center. The entire Fort DuPont Site intends to be investigated and redeveloped as part of a revitalization and preservation effort. The Site requires removal and disposal of two hot spot areas; close and abandon the monitoring wells in accordance with state and local regulations; and the recording of an Environmental Covenant limiting groundwater withdrawal.

DNREC issued a public notice of the Proposed Plan for OU-7 Marina District of the Fort Dupont Redevelopment Site on June 11, 2023. There were no comments or questions from the public regarding the Proposed Plan. Details of the Final Plan are available online at: den.dnrec.delaware.gov
