The organizational meeting of a regulatory advisory committee formed by the recently passed Wetlands Stewardship Act.

The Wetlands Stewardship Act, signed by Governor Matt Meyer on July 21, 2026, establishes Delaware’s first comprehensive state program to protect freshwater wetlands and sets up a regulatory advisory committee to guide implementation. The bipartisan legislation was developed to fill regulatory gaps created by a 2023 U.S. Supreme Court decision that narrowed the scope of federal wetlands protections.

The meeting will start with introductions of committee members and support staff and a recap of the development process that led to the legislation. The group will review the regulatory advisory committee process, logistics, roles of members and expected outcomes.

They will also select co-chairs and plan for future meetings.
