Join a muzzleloader education course to learn the skills needed to effectively harvest game with a single shot.

Hunting with a single-shot muzzleloader is challenging. Well-honed hunting and superior marksmanship skills are needed. Moving quickly beyond the basics, this course provides information on precision sighting, range and marksmanship technique, trajectory and ballistics.

Stress will be on the latest trends in muzzleoader technology, updated safety information and explanation of new projectiles.

This hands-on course combines classroom instruction with live-fire range training to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely operate, maintain, and shoot traditional and modern muzzleloaders.

Live firing requires a liability release signed by students 18 or older or a notarized signature of parents/guardians of students under the age of 18. Signed liability releases must be mailed-in, ahead of the class, to:

The course is free. Pre-registration is required.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own muzzleloader and shooting equipment. Upon arrival, all muzzleloaders must remain unloaded, securely cased, and stored in the participant’s vehicle along with all shooting supplies until instructed by course staff.

Students must bring eye and ear protection (safety glasses and hearing protection) and should dress for the weather (shooting will be outdoors).
