Learn new ways you can prepare for, and adapt to, possible flooding in Delaware.
Join DNREC staff for a workshop focused on the newly-developed Individual Adaptation Decision and Planning Tool (I-ADAPT), a decision-making tool designed to recommend flooding adaptation strategies for individual properties in Delaware. It can be used by homeowners, renters or business owners.
The tool combines map-based data and information from state agencies with a simple questionnaire that gathers information about an individual property and owner preferences to present adaptation strategies appropriate for that property and situation.
In addition to increasing the frequency and intensity of precipitation events, climate change is also causing sea level rise, creating an urgency for implementing flood adaptation measures in coastal and floodplain-bound communities. Since Delaware is the lowest lying state, and entirely coastal, it is particularly susceptible to sea-level rise and flooding.
DNREC staff created the I-ADAPT tool to help Delawarean residents and business-owners adapt to increased flooding.
