Learn about the proposal to add the East Basin Road Groundwater Site to the EPA’s National Priorities List.

The Environmental Protection Agency will host an information session on the proposal add the East Basin Road Groundwater Site to the Superfund National Priorities List (NPL). The site is an approximately seven-square mile area surrounding the city of New Castle’s public wells.

The NPL is EPA’s list of priority sites requiring evaluation for possible remediation from releases of hazardous substances, pollutants or contaminants. The EPA has announced it’s proposal to list the site on the NPL and published details in the Federal Register (87 FR 55342).

This public meeting, and an in-person public meeting on Oct. 4, will allow residents to ask questions and discuss the proposal with EPA staff.

The proposal is open for public comments for 60 days. Comments are made on the federal government’s regulations.gov site, through Nov. 8, 2022.
